FOXBOROUGH — Framingham boxer Danny O’Connor defeated Eddie Soto Sunday night at Gillette Stadium after the Revolution-Montreal soccer match.

The two faced off in a ring that was constructed behind the stands and video was broadcast through the stadium on the big screen over the field.

The headline fight began with cheers of “Let’s go, Danny O!” and “You can do it, Danny!” O’Connor did not disappoint, and put on a good show for his fans, affectionately dubbed the “O’Connor Clan.”

The masses cheered as he and Soto matched blows. The “Puerto Rican Sensation” put up a good fight, but in the end it was Soto who fell, shortly into the fourth round. He stumbled into the ropes and O’Connor saw his opening. He went after him with fists at the ready, and Soto was unable to regain his foothold before the count was up.

O’Connor held up the “New England” banner for the crowd as they cheered, and stayed after to speak with and take pictures with fans and the media.
