On January 8th, 2011, Michael Ververis and two friends, Chauncey Hardy and Thomas Derosa, went to a club in Springfield, MA. According to Ververis’s brother, Nicholas, it was his first time making the journey to Springfield from CT, where he was a resident. It was a Saturday night, and the Entertainment District, consisting of two blocks on Worthington Street, was as crowded as ever.
In the early morning hours of January 9th, 2011, Michael Ververis was taken into custody by the Springfield Police Department and charged with disorderly conduct and attempted larceny of a firearm, amongst other things. He claims that the police brutalized him, and that they mishandled evidence which could have been exculpatory. Videos of the arrest have surfaced, and are most often the main focus of his court appearances.
This video report goes further in depth about the details of the arrest and the circumstances explored in a recent hearing of a Motion to Dismiss the charges against Ververis, filed by his attorney, Luke Ryan, on his behalf. It is the same report as my previous post, but the Widescreen Extended version. Be prepared for some length.
